In
a bid to retain your custom, network providers 'lock' their
phones to their network. This means you can't use your phone
with a different provider... You will get the familiar message
on screen: 'SIM card not accepted'. For example,
Orange lock their phones to their network and say you wanted
to put a Vodafone SIM card in your Orange phone... You
wouldn't be able too because it's locked to the Orange network.

Unlocking Guide & Software
When you purchase the data cable from us, you
can gain access to the downloads section. The downloads
section contains an unlocking tutorial and the software you
will need to unlock your phone. The software is very simple
to use. If you have a basic knowledge on navigating your way
around your PC, we estimate you will have your phone unlocked
within 10 minutes. Once you know what you're doing it takes
20 seconds to unlock a phone.

If you're serious about unlocking Nokia phones and you want
more flexibility than the unlocking clips offers, you might
want to consider the multi-data cable kit. The multi-cable kit

We recommend the M-Bus Data Cable Solution to US / Canadian
customers. In our experience, **90 phones respond better to
specific software which requires an M-BUS ONLY cable. If you
try using the F/M-Bus data cable adapter, the software throws
out an error. Most programs operate under M-Bus anyway, so you
won't really lose out on functions.

It's just much safer for people who aren't familiar with unlocking.
